Last month I read the The Shortest History of Europe. By reading this book I get a brief view about the history of Europe since the ancient Greek times till 1800s. I’ve learnt how important the role is that Religions have been playing during the years, how democracy develops to what it is today, how difficult people’s lives were, how Latin shapes other Romance languages such as English, French and German. It also compares the development between China and Europe, and gives a shallow point of view about why China was left behind since the Industrial Revolution.

I disliked reading before, so finishing this book is an inspiration even though it consists of only 83,000 words. I sorta consider it a good start to form the habit of reading. Since then I’ve been reading The Grizzly King, which has been reviewed by few readers.

In the meantime, I’ve been thinking what type of books I should read next. I wish to broaden my view while I want to enhance my programming skills…

Last week I bought Productive, aiming for a more scheduled life. For example, it reminds me of reading every evening at 11, and records whether I did it or skipped it. It’s also told to prompt and remind me to learn photo editing using Affinity Photo, go for a run at weekend, or even watch a new movie. By now it’s doing well.

In my working department we use Trello to enhance collaboration, but recently I found it useful too to manage personal things. You can learn more about it here.

I watched the classical movie, Witness for the Prosecution, days ago. I was touched by the suspect’s acting, especially his facial expressions. I highly recommend it if you haven’t watched it before, and I’m sure you’ll agree with me why a movie that’s almost 60 years old can have so many high-score reviews. What an unexpected ending!

By the way, I am also pursuing the famous Japanese TV drama, Legal High. I knew little about courts, chargings, arguments and things like that, and yet I have no idea how vivic the scenes in the drama are compared to real life. Anyway it’s the protagonist’s realistic view of life and world, his persistent pursuit for victory that fascinate me. And I always admire and fancy those who devote themselves while acting.

“When would I grow up?”, kid asked his dad.
“Answer me first, which do you prefer, summer or winter?”, said dad.
“Umm.. I think I prefer winter.”
“When you start to dislike it, you grow up.”, dad replied.

However, I hate winter since I was a child ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ because the low humidity and dry air caused my skin to seam. This year with good care of skin, winter seems not as horrible as it was.

Good news came last month that Pep Guardiola, current manager of Bayern Munich, would definitely become Manchester City’s manager in summer. His achievements have proved him undoubtedly one of the greatest managers around the world, and I can’t wait to see how MCFC will become next season. Current manager of MCFC, Pellegrini, is also doing a good job. He brings brilliant attacking style to this club. Hope he can end up his career in MCFC with three champions!
